SHITAKE MONKEY:

‘LECTRIC ROCK RECORDING PROJECT
SIGNS TO OUTLOOK RECORDS (UNIVERSAL / FONTANA)
‘STREET BEEF’ OUT JANUARY 9, 2007

“In all the press lately, it’s just us three. Who loves the monkey?”-“Baby Baby”

Shitake Monkey, the electro-rock studio project from New York City, is proud to announce its recent signing to Universal / Outlook / Fontana Records. “Against all advice from our legal and management teams, we really wanted to hold out for a label that would “look out” for us,” says co-producer and founding member Electric Pete, “so we went with “Outlook.”

Street Beef, a record years in the making from a band that has been heavily promoted guerrilla-style, will finally be getting a proper national release on January 9, 2007. The project is the experimental demon child of Chuck Brody, Electric Pete and Johnny Rodeo, highly regarded musical polymaths who – sorry, ladies – have decided to keep their government names on the low for the time being. These three have produced, engineered, and written for a huge range of artists from Northern State and Elkland to Jennifer Lopez and Lindsay Lohan.

The first single, “I’m Gonna Take You Home,“ will hit radio September 26th. When asked the inspiration for that song, Electric Pete replied, “We see a glimpse of the future in every baby’s arm.” For “Maybe Lady,” the band says, “The guitars played each other. We merely enabled them. We are a vessel.”

“We hope this album will allow us to reach our goals,” says Chuck. “We’d love to be famous. Maybe even for making music.”

Outlook is an independent label based in Denver, Colorado and established in 1998 by Trevor Pryce of the Denver Broncos and now Baltimore Ravens. Outlook is distributed by Fontana distribution, a division of Universal Records.

“I wear a hat to sleep,” says Johnny Rodeo. “When i wake up the next day, my hair is perfect.”
